Vision / mission statement.

I’m working with communities of code curious and code enthusiasts, of sex educators and period trackers to make fertility and period tracking more transparent but also more secure, so that people who menstruate can use technology that serves as a tool to help getting to know their own bodies and health better.

I love your project and would use it myself once it is ready!

Here are my suggestions regarding your vision (actually just the clarity of it):

Crossing fingers for your project!

I Love that you used the term 'People who menstruate' rather than 'Women' It's very inclusive of non-binary and trans people who menstruate.

You may also want to consider the way that you focus and use 'fertility' though as this can be a tough topic for trans/non-binary folks and a source of dysphoria and discomfort.

You also may want to have a think about what kind of features could be done for those on hormone blockers/testosterone when they transition FTM can do to the body and the menstruation cycles. Perhaps users could add in when they take their hormone pills/injections and monitor that. Trans folks may also want to track things like body changes and hair growth etc. (but this may be a bit further out there product wise)

As a trans/non-binary person who menstruates I would happily help out with anything on this topic.

Thanks to both of you for really useful feedback @kaodro & @Erioldoesdesign !

Updated version:

Vision / mission statement.

We are working with communities of code curious and code enthusiasts, of sex educators and people who track their periods to make fertility and period tracking technology more transparent but also more secure, so that people who menstruate can use technology that serves as a tool to help getting to know their own bodies and health better without worrying about their data being used in ways they are not aware of.

You've got a very clear vision and it shows :) The README is also already very detailed and wisely allows potential contributors to get up-and-running quickly.

Two FOSS menstrual apps I'm aware of: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.log28/

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/de.arnowelzel.android.periodical/

...not sure if the codebase for those is helpful or not.
