Vision Statement I am working with Bioinformatics students and researchers to promote open, collaborative and reproducible Bioinformatics Research in Nairobi, Kenya so that we can we can build a community of Bioinformaticians who can collaborate and spread the open science message.
I live in Kenya, and I believe the Bioinformatics industry and other industries in Kenya should promote open and collaborative environments.I am keen to see the progress of your project.

Hey @kipkurui, really nice statement! Any Bioinformatic Research area in particular?

Thank you @mlbonatelli. At this stage, we are not focusing on any area of Bioinformatics. We are equipping participants with Open Science tools: Git and GitHub for collaboration, Jupyter and R notebooks for reproducibility, Linux and Markdown.
We'll move later on to Reproducible Bioinformatics Pipelines (Snakemake, Common Workflow Language, etc) and environment management (bioconda), and Containerization (Docker and Singularity).
I've read through your open canvas and learned a lot. It seems like a daunting amount of effort, but I applaud your boldness and desire to make positive change. I love the idea of how enabling your efforts will be for others.

I agree with @bmuenzenmeyer ! And I wish you a good luck with your project!
Thank you @mlbonatelli @bmuenzenmeyer. Yes, it is quite a daunting task, but the progress we have made so far is very encouraging.
Very interesting project!
Thank you @nerantzis
