Investigate free songs/media #264

Closed secretrobotron closed 7 years ago

Let's think about giving people a free song for each activity they complete in the chat experiment.

@Uwanja can you brainstorm a few ideas to make that happen? What do we need and how much will it cost? Can we send people Skiza tunes using a code or something? Can we buy them music on a service that they can redeem through WhatsApp somehow?

secretrobotron commented 8 years ago

Suggestion: send people data/airtime because it's the easiest and freest form of appreciation.

TheBonface commented 8 years ago

I agree with @secretrobotron, it cuts away the hustle of finding out about the free songs or skiza tunes which might have other cost implication. Everyone likes free bundles or Airtime

Uwanja commented 8 years ago

The channels via which people we can ship music in Kenya would require them to use an internet connection to download which means a cost. The culture here around music sharing is among friends via Bluetooth, people also visit Movie vending shops for music of their choice. I think sending them data bundles or airtime will work. They bundles have a wide range of usage thus we empower them in a way.

Another idea (from @Uwanja): Give people 65MB weekly bundle at end of week 2 to see what impact incentives have.

65MB @ Ksh50/person ==> ~Ksh4000

@ bobby, Remember Ruth saying that she hasn't been able to communicate with Sterro for lack of bundles, I believe giving them bundles will encourage those with questions to ask.

Thanks

@nekesawekesa @secretrobotron i 98.9% support the bundle incentive , in order for the impact to be measured there should be placed a mechanism to do that. The downside of the incentive would be that, they might end up not asking questions or they would just end up asking questions because of the need for the bundles. How about the bundles be as a bonus or present for the most active participants or Just random but not for all

AI-DennisNdegwa commented 7 years ago

I agree with @TheBonface Some participants have not been chatting with Sterro for one reason or the other. Some have read the messages but didn't reply. I'm not sure if sending them data will change their minds. We could send everyone some data in the beginning but it would only be fair to send more data to active participants only.

Decided to go with data bundles in Week 5 & 6. Stay tuned for results. 👍
