Re-create missing GA Events #13055

Open data-sync-user opened 1 week ago

data-sync-user commented 1 week ago

Context: It seems that scroll, click and form submit events are missing from our GA and have been missing since Sept 2024.

More details here:

After 9/4/24

scroll events dropped off, but also click, and the built-in form_submission .

I understand in the case of scroll we need to confirm what the the scroll depth should be - if we need to wait til we have access to the old container then it’s fine to hold off on scroll, but we do need to ensure we have click tracking set up. If we need to make a call on all clicks or only link clicks, let’s focus on link clicks.

Request: Can we please recreate or migrate these events in our new container ASAP to ensure we don’t lose user engagement data?

**We need to ensure we have click tracking set up for the EOY banner before it launches 11/19.

Simon Acosta Torres Abigayle Fidler did we ever hear back from the MoCo folks on getting access to the container we need?

Genevieve Baldassano I sent Stephanie Hobson, who was referred by Adria, a message last week on this regard.

Her last update was that we needed George Kaberere help but seeing that he has not yet replied, she would follow up with her managers to see if there’s anything else we could do.

It also seems that George posted on the #moco Slack Channel on Thursday, so I sent him another message in hopes that we can get a reply.

Our current options are either waiting for George or Stephanie.

Metrics were added succesfully to GA4, you can consult them on the follwing links for the last couple days:

As per our last convesration, due to the inaccesibility of the old contrainer some configurations were unknown, however, some of the events might have had a different setup where even built-in metrics such as the ones mentioned on the description, were added as tags on GTM.

When Google updated from Universal Analytics to GA4, introduced “advanced analytics” which has as built-in the events in case, so what I did was to set them up with this new configuration.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
