Description

Facilitated by the Sierra schools of Technology (SisTec) as Digital Art and Culture of the need and important will realize the potential of Young Girls in their various urban areas as development actors through training in e-safety, hardware, software, networking, Art etc Information Technology and Communication as tools to help bring about change in Sierra Leone by ensuring that these young girls are empowered with the needed skills to catch up with the modern trends. The use of ICT will scope, help to coordinate, support and enhance existing local level efforts of learning institutions to showcase their work, building support through partnerships from the virtual community and deal with common challenges in the field of education. These common challenges the project will focus on include ICT accessibility and usage, advancement of education.

Agenda

As digital systems, Art and Culture keeps changing the face of the modern world and increase opportunities for global interconnectivity, many Sierra Leonean young women are still left behind to catch up with this rapidly evolving trend. We’ve all heard about stranger danger online, but a growing number of young people – particularly girls – need to learn about other ICT and the Internet dangers the hard way. This project therefore suggests and shows possible ways through which young women can actually make use of this Technological advantage of our time, as it is SWEET, Cheap but powerfully effective in reaching out to the actual victims of political corruption, social decay and poor governance, as Digital Art and Culture is a vital tool to help bring about change in our country by ensuring that young girls are empowered with the needed skills to catch up with the modern trends.

Participants

Young women can be empowered and in the process fighting poverty, information sharing and global inter-connectivity with other learning institutions by setting up computers and Art Life still per session.

Outcome

Youth Voice: to enhance the capacity for self-expression of young girls and their learning institutions.

Youth Development: to develop the ICT skills and personal attributes that enable young women to become successful adults.

Social Media Literacy: to strengthen the ability to analyze, evaluate, and produce information in a variety of news media forms.

ICT Skill Development: to increase communication, critical thinking, technology, and outreach skills.

Cultural Exchange: to connect young girls via web and social media to the world to create powerful cross-cultural dialogue.

Creative Action: *to encourage youth to be involved in social action and civic engagement.*
