Description

Ben is a senior engineer for migrations and distribution and Julien is our lead engineer of aggregation and syndication. They would like to do a session on Support Diverse Voices on the Web, speaking about how Medium is building an accessible network ideas while being an active member of the evolving open web.

Agenda

Ben and Julien will talk for a portion of the session about how we think about openness and what we build to try and facilitate it. show off some of our protocols and make a demo. Both Ben and Julien are members of our Openness Committee.

Participants

We will scale the session based on the crowd to make it interactive. If we have 3 people, our talk will be far more of a conversation and roundtable. 15 or 25 will be focused more as a talk with questions and with those larger groups, we will want to split the people into working groups for any demos/hands-on work and be able to move through the groups for questions as well as facilitate Q&A after the demo.

Outcome

We want to increase awareness and conversation around support diverse voices. Showing the work Medium is doing as a company and platform is part of that but our team mostly wants to show the work and thinking they are doing and help others with their work.

This is a very important topic to us and I am curious to know more about how this session will engage participants to support diverse voices on the web. Other than using Medium as a platform I am wondering what the discussion, prompts, activities may look like in this session. How is it participatory?
