Short description of session for the schedule app ...
Most written stories go from A to B and don't wander off the path along the way. With interactive fiction it's different - you can create stories and let them wander as much as you like, head in many new directions, and come back to the path again (if you want to). Come along and we'll show you how to write and share your own short interactive fiction stories using free software.

Description
This session will give people the opportunity to create their own interactive fiction (similar to choose your own adventure books, but in a digital form). They'll learn what interactive fiction is and find out about different free tools they can use to create their own interactive fiction and how to share it with others.
Agenda
Ideally this session would be focused on ideas sharing and hands-on participation, giving participants the opportunity to try out various interactive fiction tools and start creating their own pieces of interactive fiction.
Participants
It would be preferable if all attendees had access to a computer with internet access, so that they could participate and create their own interactive fiction during the session. I could tailor the session so that we would have a reasonable amount of time to share ideas as well as do some hands-on creation, regardless of whether the group size was 3, 15 or 25 people.
Outcome
I think there's a great opportunity following on from the session to share any interactive fiction works begun at Mozfest with other Mozfest goers, and the wider world. The session is intended to just be the start of the journey for people new to interactive fiction, and it would be great to see how creations begun at Mozfest developed over time. I hope the session will also develop a passion in others for writing interactive fiction and they will go on to share their passion with others. Though I have run interactive fiction workshops in the past, this session will also give me an opportunity to try out new ideas in the session for use in possible future sessions.
