Description
In this session, participants will learn about how and why researchers are interested in building an urban heat island mapping kit. This session will introduce participants to the basic concepts of the urban climate and learn to assemble their own Arduino based temperature/humidity mapping kit.
Agenda
The facilitators will present the fundamental concepts of the urban climate and why it is important to monitor and map the urban climate. Participants will then learn about the TIHMMI project - a mobile urban heat island mapping kit - and then be able to assemble one of their own.
Participants
There will be a few TIHMMI sensor components available to assemble and test. Participants will need to group together during the assembly process.
Outcome
The major takeaway from the workshop would be that participants gain an appreciation for the urban climate and spark new ideas for mapping the urban climate. The workshop will hopefully provide a handy reference for the participants and others interested in making doing environmental mapping projects.
Thanks for the submission! Unfortunately this session has not been selected as part of the program for 2016. Please expect an email from us with further information very soon.
