Description

We will present a short overview of Open Cosmics and what we have worked on during, in between and after MozSprints '15 and '16.

Agenda

We should have a web interface in which users can play with cosmic-ray data and make some basic plots. We will use this to demonstrate the research and education possibilities of open data from physics.

Participants

Given that the content will be browser-based, we can MILLIONS of simultaneous participants! Also, Hugo and I can be as loud as needed in order to reach all the millions who will no doubt be at our talk.

Outcome

We would like participants to get inspired by how open data from citizen-science and educational projects can be used, and hope that people are enthused enough to contribute to Open Cosmics!

@raoofphysics this sounds rad! One of the schools coming to MozFest this year is the Canterbury Simon Langton school who have links with CERN, they have a keen interest in big data and IoT as part of their CS curriculum.

@raoofphysics to many sessions and not enough space, I love this one but its best left to Open Science. Keep me in the loop!

Sounds good! :)
