Participants will be learning how to use Inkscape (open source design program) to create a geeky jewellery / keyring design which they will then be able to fabricate on the lasercutter using acrylic or plywood. They can then finish it off by attaching a chain, keyring or magnet etc.
Agenda
There'll be two workshop leaders, one will be showing participants how inkscape works and how to create a design, the other will be showing them how the lasercutter ( in the prototyping lab) works and showing them their designs being cut out. At the end people will be able to attach what they've made to either necklace chains, keyrings, magnets etc if they want.
Participants
The maximum number of participants would ideally be 8, any less than that would be fine, but more would be difficult to manage as people will be creating their own individual designs.
Outcome
Will encourage people to find out more about how they can create their own things, and shows them the sorts of things they can make at their local hack/makespace and how they can use open source software to create their designs. Making more mini makers :D
