بدايةً سنقوم بعرض اللغات التي تدعمها موزيلا ووصف مبسط عن كل لغة و الدول التي تتحدث بها, ثم سنتطرق للحديث أكثر حول اللغة العربية (الشعوب التي تتكلم بها, حيثياتها, وأهم خصائصها) والحديث عن الفرق بين اللغة العربية الفصحى و العامية واستخدامات كل منهما, ثم سنناقش الفرق بين التوطين والترجمة ومميزات التوطين ولماذا علينا استخدامه بدلاً من الترجمة الحرفية خاصة في اللغة العربية, سنتحدث عن الكتابة من اليمين إلى اليسار ومواصفات هذا النوع من الكتابة والأخطاء التي يقع بها سواء مبرمجو الويب أو التطبيقات أو الذين يقومون بعملية التوطين وكيفية علاجها.

في البداية سيتم توضيح دور اللغات الأخرى غير الإنجليزية في موزيلا , ثم سنوضح دور اللغة العربية ولماذا هي منتشرة في موزيلا , ثم المناقشة حول كيفية المساهمة في التعريب وما الفائدة من جعل المحتوى متوفر باللغة العربية, ثم توضيح كيفية تجنب الأخطاء اللغوية, ثم سنفتح باب الأسئلة والأجوبة إذا كان الحضور لديهم استفسارات

Participants

"إذا كان عدد المشاركين ما في حدود ٣ أشخاص سنجعلهم يجربون و يمارسون اللغة العربية و يرون مدى أهميتها و فائدتها في العالم وكيف أنه باستطاعتهم دمجها في أي مجال في الحياة(تكنولوجيا , صحة...إلخ). إذا كان العدد أكبر (١٥ مثلاً) سنقوم بجعل الشرح أكثر عمومية بحيث أن العدد يمكنهم فهم المفاهيم اللغوية التي يحتاجها العالم في جعل اللغات منتشرة حول العالم أكثر و أعم, وإمكانية التفاعل بينهم و النقاش حول ذلك. إذا كان العدد ٢٥ يمكن تقسيمهم لمجموعات حيث أن كل مجموعة ستأخذ جزءً من الموضوع لتتاقش به لوحدهم ثم بعد فترة محددة (١٠ دقائق مثلاً) ستقوم كل مجموعة بطرح مخرجات ونتائج تفكيرهم على باقي المجموعات كي يستفيد جميع الحضور من أفكار بعضهم البعض و يأتون بأفكار جديدة تخص اللغات الأخرى و اللغة العربية وكيفية تحسين نشر اللغات حول العالم كي يصبح لدينا مستخدمون قادرون على التعامل مع المنتجات(التكنولوجية و غيرها) بأريحية تامة دون مواجهة صعوبات."

Outcome

"أن يعكس الحضور ما تعلموه في الجلسة و ينقلوه إلى مجتمعاتهم (خاصة الناطقين بغير اللغة العربية) و يقوموا بتوعية أفراد المجتمع عن أهمية اللغات الأخرى ولماذا علينا وضع لغات أخرى في جميع المجالات الحياتية و التي تعكس أهمية وجود لغات كاللغة العربية لتسهل على المجتمعات استخدام شتى مجالات الحياة بصورة تفاعلية مريحة لكي يصبحوا أفراداً قادرين على الإبداع. سنقوم بتنطيم ورشات عمل على الإنترنت لكي نتناقش بيننا في الأمور التي تعلمناها سوياً و التي قاموا بنشرها في مجتمعاتهم و كيفية تحسينها والأمور الواجب علينا اتباعها أو التخلي عنها من أجل نشر الوعي و الثقافة اللازمة و نشر اللغات حول العالم كي تصبح جميع اللغات موجودة في جميع المجالات."

Description Firstly, we are going to show the languages that are supported by Mozilla and a brief description of the communities and countries that speak the language, and then we are going to talk about Arabic language (countries and communities that speak Arabic, its properties, it important features and more) and talk about the difference between the formal Arabic language and the slang Arabic language and the use of each one of them, then we will discuss the difference between localization and translation and why should we use localization instead of translation especially in Arabic because sometimes literal translation gives a wrong meaning of the sentence. We will talk about RTL (Right To Left), the characteristics of this type of writing and the problems that developers and localizers face and how to avoid those mistakes and problems.

Agenda At the beginning we will show the role of the other languages in Mozilla (other than English), then we are going to show the role of Arabic language and why do we need it in the different fields and in Mozilla especially, then we will discuss the ways of volunteering with Mozilla in the L10n field and the benefits behind that and the benefit of having products fully localized in all languages and Arabic in specific, then we will discuss the ways of avoiding the mistakes in writings and localization, at the end we make some time for Q&A if the participants have questions.

Participants If the number of participants was around 3 we will show them some examples of practicing the Arabic language to see the importance and effect of applying it in many products so they will see the easiness of using it in any field they want (Technology, health..etc.). If the number of participants was higher (around 15) we will make the discussion more general to let the participants understand the specifications of the Arabic language that the world needs to use Arabic professionally and effectively and the impact of having the languages spread among all countries and communities and the ability of making an interaction between them. With the higher number (25 or above) we are going to divide them into small groups and each group will take a part to discuss between each other for a little time (10 minutes) then each group will show the results of their discussion the output of it and to benefit from each other’s thoughts and come up with new thoughts related to languages and how to enhance the languages spreading among the world to have users who are able to deal and use with all of the products (Technology and others) in their desired language in an easy and comfortable way without facing obstacles.

Outcome We expect that people reflect what they will learn in the session to their communities in order to spread the knowledge as much as possible and why should we have different languages in Mozilla and any field in the world that reflects the importance of localization (such as in Arabic) to make it easy for people and users using the technology and others to make help them thinking creatively and effectively. We will organize some online workshops to discuss between each other the things we will learn in the session and what they did in their communities and how to enhance it, discuss the needed things to make the learning and spreading the languages knowledge better and the things we have to avoid to make all possible languages available for the whole world.

@alicoding @hjbailey seems like a neat session, but definitely a better fit for localisation than for journalism. Will take our label off.
