Description

in case it will be a talk, I would like to share our experience at Kids Genius in building a maker culture in our community through installing several labs for youngsters starting 7 years old in different conflict zones as well as in schools to encourage the young generation to be contributors and innovators in technology instead of being just passive consumer of it. If I will have the chance to give a workshop, it would be to design something with crafts and electronics. (we could also use arduino for that depending on the level of expertise of participants)

Agenda

In case it is a talk, it would be up to 10 mins talk with pictures and videos of makerspaces created and sharing the outcome and impact on youngsters. In case it is workshop, participants will be divided in groups of 3 to 4. Then they are given some time to explore the tools and components that they will be provided; one topic will be specified after that such Olympic games or Chain reaction ... so that participants develop something within the specified topic and then present their invention.

Participants

When the number of participants is not large, I will give them choices of what they would like to learn or do in the workshop and whether they want to go through and advanced level workshop or just enjoy making and challenge themselves in design.

Outcome

if it will be a talk, participants will get concrete examples of the importance or raising a maker culture in youngsters since early ages and would maybe consider this in their own communities. In the workshop, they will explore electronic components in a fun and creative application.
