Description

To experience, get inspired, discuss, possibly hack alternative forms of interacting with information.

=Flow visualized around wing cut from paper moved across screen: https://opensource.com/life/16/3/image-processing-nasa

=Project 3D landscape on sandtable: http://idav.ucdavis.edu/~okreylos/ResDev/SARndbox/

=Physical Blockly (/Scratch/whatever) jigsaws, put camera above table, valid programs run on screen [idea]

=Play Sudoku on mobile, reflected in LEDcube. Future: interaction on cube [hardware ready, software started]

=Big touchtable to draw general graphs (networks) cooperatively quicker than on whiteboard.

=v2 of 'reshaped desktop to walk with free hands to communicate'. See Twitter bio photo [in development]

=White surface to throw (velcro?) darts at, camera detects hits, project image: Politician / Dartboard

resizing on handicap / Crosshair /Expectance based on aim and skill. [Visuals done-ish]

= CarSpeedometer with meaningful information in a graphical way: Cost of speedingticket, fuelcost/km, pollution/km, deadliness of crash [few hours to go]

= Bikespeedometer feeding map: whereto can I beat car when parking included [idea]

Agenda

Why I think people will be interested: Bottleneck of information throughput often not what can be put on screen, but that we need to get away from default screen more and certainly from keyboard/mouse/singleUserTouchscreen. More affordable multi-user touchscreens and VR/AR are changes, but many more ways possible.

Sessions can fill quite some time, though time will tell how many setups will actually be ready at Mozfest (and GraphicalWeb afterwards)

Why I think it will get enough of this ready: I have some ready, plenty preparation time scheduled and expect some help form community

I'll turn this into an on-line project to cooperate on (github/mediawiki/) this week Already had interest from fablab and dataviz folks

Sessions can fill quite some time, though time will tell how many setups will actually be ready at Mozfest (and GraphicalWeb afterwards)

Participants

Per setup I'll prepare questions and micro-assignments (= user test) to draw feedback, invite cooperation, could be done parallel groupwise.

First I'll let everybody play for a bit, then questions + user testing which I'll lead. If too many for one group I'll split. I'll make sure the material allows for not having me as lead.

Outcome

I hope to have many inspired to try new ways of interacting with information and quite a few to cooperate on some of the mentioned (or newly thought-up_ projects). On-line examples and documentation are of course key to let the rest of the web enjoy and maybe build on.
