cc @autonome as possibility to display things in the chill zone
Nice!
cc @potch @autonome want to make sure Potch is included in this.
How many screens in the Chill / Tent will we be able to use for this? And will we have access to the ambient displays? We can display the schedule and upcoming event information or any other content for the event with the Corsica system. It is used in the Mozilla offices currently. @potch can help guide content creation.
One screen in the tent zone. We can ask @sallen about putting a few up in other places around the festival like the landings and by the coffee stations.
Can people interact with it? Modify content?

@autonome that's the plan! putting useful information on them and then letting people "hack" the tvs by featuring their stuff (vetted for appropriateness) along side.

[ Format ] hands-on, We would like to run screens (TV or projection) throughout the space using Corsica (open source TV signage software written by mozillians) and have a booth where we can have scheduled hacking session where people can play with how the screens run.
Description
With smart TVs coming down in price and more IoT processors having HDMI output it has become easy to get Web browsers on big screens. We want to enable people to do this with their own home screens and participate in growing what the Web is capable of.
Agenda
Having displays through the exhibit space where we have standard cycles of ambient information. This can be things like schedules or special events. We can then have random fun displays cycle in. This can be at random intervals happening more often over time. This will include a reference to where people can find out how to control the displays and hack with us. We encourage attendees to bring a raspberry pi or other internet-connected TV stick with them, but we will have a few to demo on.
Participants
With 3 we can be much more hands on. Show how to make a dashboard and how you can modify different content to fit a big screen. With 15 we will use tools like Thimble to build simple websites and show participants how to push their hacks to the screens. With 25 we can use x-ray goggles to show participants how they can “hack” the content ofa website and push it to the screens. At large volumes we can limit the number of pushes to the screens at a time so we can make sure both informational content and “hacks” get seen.
Outcome
All of the corsica code is available on github and with what participants learn they will be able to contribute to the code or deploy it and try out other screens and devices they can push content to. We hope they learn that even their TV isn’t just a device for consumption, they can add make and share their own “programming” using the Web.
