What will happen in your session?

Virtual Reality is the next Big thing and it is the future of Entertainment, Gaming and Education Industry. This session is about not only experiencing VR but also to create one in Web based Virtual Reality.

My session comprise: An Intro to VR and its usecases and How it changed in the past 5 years

Intro to WebVR and aframe
Creating a hello world VR experience with live coding
Creating a Pokemon world with a park and few pokemons in Virtual reality using aframe components and getting it live on a website
Forking and asking participants to try creating their own Pokemon world VR experience
Discussion on How VR changed the perception of different things in various domains including Medicine and Architecture

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Creating a strong belief that you don’t need to be a Super experienced developer to create VR experiences
Learning How VR can help the participants in their own working domain
You will learn it is not only fun to experience a AR/VR game but also to create one
Inculcate the idea of self learning and making by teaching participants how easy and fun it would be to make things.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

VR headsets ( I can get a couple of headsets myself :) )

Hey @emrysgreen , I and my co-facilitators are 23 and look like 20. So yes, it is led by young people. :)

@viswanathamsantosh we will be reaching out post September 1st with details on support you should be able to access to hone your session - Also all sessions in the youth zone will be invited for a Skype, Zoom or FB call

@viswanathamsantosh what type of VR headsets do you need? Is Google Cardboard (with Android phones) the type, or does it need to be HTC Vive level equipment?

Hey @gbaman , One of the main goal of this session is convey participants that they don't need high end VR equipment to write, test and run VR projects and also to conclude How they could use VR in their respective Domains. So we will be using cardboards and a procus pro(I already got one) for this session. :)

Hiya @flukeout this has been shortlisted for a youth zone Mozfest stipend and are really keen to arrange programming it in Web Literacy too as part of the Youth Led track. I appreciate you may want to consider the 4 sessions we're proposing collectively. 2 have an Arts Award bursary and this one has the MF stipend...

Hey all, Can I tag along a co-facilitator for my session? I forgot to mention it while filling up the form. She can help me with my session and also she will also be able to deliver her own session if it is accepted.

@viswanathamsantosh you are welcome to bring more facilitators :), we can add them to your session, what we are not able to do is cover their accomodation and travel costs

Just to confirm @flukeout I have allocated this in my list as a Youth Zone session; unless you have wanted to include additionally in the Web Lit space? Just making sure we've got a consistent list

That was my thought - they're getting a stipend so also thought would be good to make best use of it, but running just once on Youth Zone is fine as you do have many sessions!

@viswanathamsantosh Looking again at the hardware setup for this session, does it require attendees to need their own laptops to take part? As well, you mentioned Google Cardboards. To judge the scale of the session, how many VR headsets do you expect to have access to?

Yes. If the participants want to build their own VR world then they should get their laptop. Depending on the participants size we should get the VR headsets. I will be getting a procus pro myself. In addition to that 10-15 cardboards can serve well even for a big group of 50 participants.

The VR lab is only running on one day, we have done the best we could with the resources we have.

I'm still happy with 2 sessions but thought a gap between 2 sessions would help me in improving my 2nd session with the feedback I receive from 1st session. But anyways this works. I can Handle it back to back. \o/

Hey dorine, I need only cardboards n simple VR devices without any controllers. So Vive is not required. I can handle with cardboards.
