[ Session Name ] [Game Play] Privacy and Security Situations Challenge [ Primary Space ] Privacy and Security [ Secondary Space ] Web Literacy

[ Submitter's Name ] Geraldo dos Santos Barros [ Submitter's Affiliated Organisation ] Mozilla Community [ Submitter's Github ] @barrosgeraldo

[ Additional facilitators ] Cynthia Cristina Pereira,

What will happen in your session?

We will introduce ourselves and share the motivation in creating the Privacy and Security Situations Challenge created during Mozilla's Global Sprint to teach privacy and security to people around the world. Partners will discuss everyday situations that put their online lives at risk and then think about the options they have to make these situations healthier with tools and good practices. Participants will then introduce themselves and share the situations and solutions they thought of together. Finally, participants will take their boards, read the rules, and begin to play, learning, discussing the situations they invented, and sharing their solutions to them. Participants will leave with enough privacy & security experience to “level up” as new specialists in privacy and security!

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

  1. Participants will learn strong online security and privacy practices and begin to change their unhealthy habits;
  2. Participants will leave knowing how to use this game to lead Privacy and Security Situations Challenge sessions in their local communities;
  3. Participants will leave inspired to create their own games using the extensive Privacy and Security Situations Challenge board;
  4. Participants will localize and translate the default game into other languages.

Time needed

60 mins

Geraldo co-lead one of the most active projects/repos in the Privacy & Security track of the Global Sprint. I think there's a large activist and clubs audience for this and would love to include it in any kind of Mozilla Privacy Arcade space that develops.

Hi @barrosgeraldo, thank you for submitting this interesting session. Could you explain what is the Privacy and Security Situations Challenge you created during Mozilla's Global Sprint? There are two things I didn't quite get : you're talking about "partners'" in your description, are they co-facilitators? Also, from learning the description, I got the impression participants already needs to know about solutions for privacy issues before playing the game? Thanks!

barrosgeraldo commented 7 years ago

Hi @arroway,

The Privacy and Security Situations Challenge is a open, offline, extensible and board game to explore and analyze everyday situations on the Internet and learn how to navigate safely using good online security and privacy practices. This game was created during the Mozilla's Global Sprint as part of the Offline Games Challenge.

Partners are the pairs of people who will be attending our session. I hope it has been clear now.

Our game is designed for people to learn these concepts, technologies and tools, they will have the opportunity to learn this because the mechanics of our game show situations accompanied by possible solutions described in an easy way to understand, so people will learn while they play.

Thank you for your questions, Geraldo Barros

Hi @bunnybooboo, I'm sorry for the delay in adding some notes here.

Thank you. Have a nice weekend. 😄

bunnybooboo commented 7 years ago

Thank you @barrosgeraldo. As each of you are lead facilitators in each session there is no issue I can see regarding ticketing, or even bio in the scheduling app. You'll gain access to the scheduling app next week, where you'll be able to update details of the session and add your bio information.
