What will happen in your session?

In this hands-on, participatory workshop, participants will use a collaborative, social game design experience to reverse engineer the cultural and material conditions necessary to foster open leadership. Working in groups, participants will re-purpose and up-cycle generic game pieces into new games that are fun and fulfilling for each teammate. After that, they'll discuss and share the decisions and processes that made their game-designs successful. With the remaining time, participants will sketch action plans to bring those processes back home. Drawing on Mozilla's Open Leadership Training Series and its expertise in teaching about the open web, session facilitators will help participants move from play to reflection to action in planning next steps for developing open leadership in their projects and organizations.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Participants will leave knowing how open leadership looks and feels. They will also leave with concrete next steps they can take to introduce and implement open leadership habits and norms within their projects and home organizations. Finally, participants will be able to offer the workshop to their home organizations thanks to its highly adaptable and reproducible nature.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

I will ask my manager for a small materials budget; I anticipate needing paper, cardboard, scissors, tape, markers, dice, game pieces, game boards, play money, and other easily sourced, inexpensive crafting supplies.

Hi @chadsansing it appears that this session has not been accepted within a space however at Mozfest this year we have emergent session space, that sits outside a space and can host sessions all weekend- would this be of interest?

Yes, @Saallen - and it might include an Open Leadership Map focus group piece.
