@giacastello your session sounds awesome but we cant host this for 4 hours in the youth zone, I would love something similar but shorter like 60 mins max :)
@EPIKhub Hi Dorine! That means we did not get into the Decentralization track and we could get into the Youth Zone if we shorten our proposal? We could adapt the activity to a 60 min worldbuilding proposal to shape the future. You can count on that :)
Also in our proposal, where we were asked about the time for our session, we chose the option <<All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session>> proposing after the workshop a "place open to the public where people can join and make new pieces with the materials in the room, becoming an all weekend collaborative story-installation of the future, envisioning a collective 2027". In this case, this would be off the table too due to time availability of the room, right?
We are glad you liked it, please if there is anything else we could adapt to improve our chances, just let me know :)
@giacastello let see what decentralization decides first :)
@EPIKhub awesome, thx <3
We would need to think about the times before the decentralisation would take it but if @EPIKhub wants it, we can stand out the way
@cubicgarden, I have two issues to overcome in being able to accept it, as I said we cant host it for 4hours and our stipends have been allocated now to those that chose us as first space. @giacastello, couple of questions for you: are you able to fit this within a 1 hour slot as a youth centric piece and if we cannot award you a stipend would you still be able to come?
Hi guys! For us it would be great to have this ongoing space to think about the future with the Mozilla Community. If time is an issue, we could still adapt our activities to the availability, maintaining the essence of storyhacker's proposal. Regarding stipend, it would be really difficult for us to make it to Mozfest from Argentina without it. Let's see what @cubicgarden says from decentralization, and if not, it would be our pleasure to join you @EPIKhub .
Hi @giacastello,
Thanks for the proposal. I have few questions for you :
Thanks, Vigneshwer
Hi @vigneshwerd!
Thank you for your questions! I'll answer by topics:
About the Storytoolkit, it includes:
About the previous workshops with these materials: You can check out this video or the previous topic links on final production of previous worldbuilding workshops by StoryHackers.
About the change from a 4 hr to a 1 hr workshop: We strongly believe that, regardless of the tool, the importance of a good experience relies on stories and user journey. Tech developers think about the tools, but we have found a lack of critical thinking on the responsibility we have as developers when we bring a user to our created world. That being said, in case we just had 1 hour to make a storyhackers workshop, we would work on worldbuilding ideas of possible futures, prototype in paper and laser cut boards designed by storyhackers to visualize a user's journey on immersive experiences. After the workshop, we will share via e-mail recommendations on which software can they use to easy-prototype their stories (At StoryHackers we <3 A-frame!)
Hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if there are more coming up! :)
Thanks for the detailed explanation @giacastello
@giacastello Thanks so much for submitting this proposal and all the additional information you followed up with. It certainly does sound like a fascinating session. We have a limited number of travel and accomodation stipends to go around and these are now pretty much all assigned. Do you think you be able to come and run this session without the aid of a stipend?
Hi @maboa! It would be really difficult for us to make it to Mozfest from Argentina without the stipend. Does Mozfest have a diversity department, or works together with organizations that help mozfest in that area? Maybe as women in tech from Latin America we could be eligible for getting support from them. Kind rgds,
Sorry we can't offer a Stipend for this one... its a shame and I understand please do submit something next year if possible.
@cubicgarden Thanks for your time and patience Ian. @EPIKhub Dorine! What do you say? <3
@giacastello this is a hard one for us. On an additional note a stipend allocation is for only one person, it does not cover co facilitators, so would not solve the cost to you issue as coming from so far away.
@EPIKhub @cubicgarden as we have shortened the proposal to one hour, we could give it with one representative. And also, if there is a way you could write a letter of invitation, we could try to get it on our end. If that makes sense to you, we could try it.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.

What will happen in your session?
This digital campfire kicks off with a 4hr narrative worldbuilding workshop where participants will prototype unique diverse futures. After those 4 hr, this installation will be open to the public where people can join the space and make new pieces with the materials in the room, becoming an all weekend collaborative story-installation of the future, envisioning a collective 2027 with DIY digital / analogical building blocks such as poems, audios, videos, 360 experiences, drawings and sculptures that contribute to imagining not only dystopia, but a future space of diverse human possibility.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
StoryHackers is a storytelling playground with tech tools. The attendees will learn to use analog and digital storytools designed by StoryHackers to prototype immersive experiences. They will be given a storytool kit with materials to work creatively in their 2027 stories and characters physically. After that, the participants will be able to prototype their future analogically or with open source web tools to create this future island. The main idea is to give the participants the storytelling tools needed not only to imagine a dystopian world but to build together what a diverse inclusive future looks like. The outcome is a weekend storytelling installation to experience collective prototypes of the future.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
Printables 2 Projectors Audio system Office supplies Art supplies (cardboard, glue, scissors, different types of paper, different types of crayons, plasticine) Storyhackers will provide open source tools for worldbuilding, it is important to bring a personal device to use them.
Time needed
All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session
