What will happen in your session?

Simple workshops on how to create a dance. An insight into basic choreographic devices and movements; and the way this mirrors coding and developing technology, I.e. the idea of an achievable process open to all. Participants will be talked through simple dance structures and how to create motifs. They will then brainstorm inspiration and movements, create and put together motifs before putting on a small performance of their piece at the end of each session.

A freestyle stage with 10 minute slots every hour so that individuals can show off their own skills and imagination to songs of their choice. Not only will this help to inspire others, but create recognition that dance is a universal language for all.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

To illustrate the ever-evolving shape that technology has through dance and sound. For each participant to have an understanding that any movement can be put together through a process which is very similar to the way in which we use code and imagination to create technology. These things go hand in hand. Performance will be encouraged to highlight that there is no right or wrong, and that once a dance is choreographed it can always be developed or changed. The freestyle stage looks at promoting digital inclusion through the chance to show off and celebrate each other's individuality throughout the weekend.

This looks great @nkl96 thanks. Perhaps we can also explore using digital tech to record the dance so we mirror the coding process and then use tech to share the outcome also.

@emrysgreen @Nkl96 love this session too and the idea to use tech to record is fab. But within the youth zone we dont have the space to host this for a whole day, this would require a dedicated studio space we simple dont from a logistic point of view have to allocate. @Saallen as an Emys curated peice how about the glass room on the first floor just below the youth zone as an idea?

I'll talk to @nkl96 about implementing this within a specific session time rather than an exhibition piece. She already suggests a rolling programme of workshops so we will look to programme it just the once.

Thanks, @emrysgreen. This looks like a very creative and engaging session. I'm not sure it connects with the specific Digital Inclusion themes we've identified (accessibility, identity, access/affordability, localization, censorship). It might fit better in the Youth Zone?

Thanks for this Hannah. Neha is happy to mould the session in a needed direction so if you'd like to suggest anything which it should cover to hit your aims more precisely that would be great? A part of this thought was accessibility of digital and arts combined and how we present and engage people through digital means...

This would be part of the youth track and this is a young leader bringing it in which we will find using the Arts Award bursary money.
