[ Session Name ] Innovate with Open Science Hardware! [ Primary Space ] Open Innovation [ Secondary Space ] Digital Inclusion

[ Submitter's Name ] Tobias Wenzel [ Submitter's Affiliated Organisation ] University of Cambridge / DocuBricks / Journal of Open Hardware [ Submitter's Github ] @MakerTobey

What will happen in your session?

I intend to build a "permanent" exhibit on Open Science Hardware with introduction and participation information (2x A0 posters, integrated Open Hardware & supported by lots of QR codes). There will be an open (twitter) interface to tag projects as request to open their resources or publish details (e.g. via DocuBricks / Journal of Open Hardware). There will also be feature suggestions &volunteering opportunities for an Open Hardware innovation platform that will bridge the most popular existing digital spaces of the Open Hardware community. IN ADDITION to the permanent exhibit, I would also like to facilitate a 60minute hands-on developers session on the same topic, seeking additional solutions for Open Hardware platform connections and workflows.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

(1) Increasing awareness of Open Science Hardware and motivation to contribute to their (digital) spaces in multiple languages. (2) Crowd-generated tag-initiative requesting projects/people to open up information and point to already open resources. (3) Gathering of development ideas for key (open) Open Science Hardware infrastructure projects and engagement of new volunteer developers.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

I need a well-accessible large poster board with space for two A0 posters – And if possible a screen+PC showing a feed-update of peoples participation. For the session: large sheets of white paper, post-its and pens. Plugs for notebooks and a few chairs (with small table) for the discussion.

Time needed

All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session
