What will happen in your session?

The Rust project now has huge public presence in the programming world. We take pride in being approachable and would also like to be so during MozFest.

This space will provide:

Q&A about Rust, why to use it and how to be involved
A meeting space for tech interested people to get in touch with the Rust community
A place for the curious. Never programmed? We don't mind, let's try!
Some specialised sessions over the days, discussing specific community subjects like outreach and teaching

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

We hope for multiple things, both outwards and inwards:

To make people aware of what Rust is
Get feedback about the project from people we usually don't meet
Get in touch with people outside of the programming community
Making people aware of how to get in touch with the Rust project
Clarifying the role of programming languages and communities for the general public
Discussing how Rust can be used to forward Mozillas mission

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

A projector would help, but is not strictly necessary. Something to write on, like a whiteboard or a flip chart would be very helpful. Power sockets would be great, but we can organise our own.

Time needed

All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session

Seeing that there's a couple of other Rust submissions, we'd be very happy to arrange them inside this one.

@booya would be open to organise local support for this event from the London Rust meetup.

Thanks for the proposal @skade It will be super cool to have a Rust stall in the gallery space where people come discuss their ideas, know about Rust community practices and start thinking about its practical implementation in Rust.

@auremoser @phillipadsmith flagging this one for y'all to keep an eye on, It will be really beneficial for the audience to know about the RFCs process followed in the Rust project.

@Saallen this proposal would be ideal for a fringe event also
