What will happen in your session?

// 30 minutes Did you know there was a European CO2 market ? Want to learn about it and see how we built a scraper to analyze it? Come, I'll show you how to dive into its data. At my news agency AEF, we looked for an answer to the question : Who is really in control of the European CO2 market? The investigation showed that 40 big companies are holding back their governments on CO2 market regulation.

// 60 minutes Hands-on workshop. Let's unite forces and explore CO2 trade in 31 countries in Europe. Fancy improving the python scraper to leverage fresh 2016 data? Do you prefer focusing on Polish/Greek/German coal plants? Or digging up the "ghost plants" ?

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

The goal is to share awareness about European CO2 market, and also enable developers and journalists to work together during a workshop. It can end up in a European collaboration.

Let's talk about our experiences in this area and - if interested - exchange mail addresses to start a network and keep in touch.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

Just a projector and wifi should be fine.

Thank you for submitting @anouchk - it sounds interesting. I wanted to double-check about the travel stipend: Are you able to attend without, or is the stipend absolutely required for you to come to Mozfest? Let me know, thank you!

Dear Luke, Thank you for you feedback ! Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to afford the cost of accomodation plus Eurostar ticket without the stipend. So I am afraid it is required if I want to attend Mozfest. Kind wishes, Ana

@flukeout we'd like to include Ana's session as part of the OpenNews curation track and will cover her stipend. Would that work for you all?

Just to let you know that the scraper had been updated https://github.com/anouchk/ETS_scraper And the scraped data has been updated and published https://www.data.gouv.fr/fr/datasets/donnees-2005-2015-du-marche-europeen-des-quotas-de-co2-ets/ It still needs some translation to English, work in progress !

As MozFest is approaching we’re asking that you reply to this issue with an outline of the topics and activities for your session. A rough, bullet-point outline with time estimates would be ideal.

I wanted to also check in about your proposed session length. Is there any way that you could trim down to 60 minutes? We have limited slots for 90 minutes and we want to see if this is a possibility. Please consider this as you send us your session outline. Thank you and let us know if you have any questions.

Hello @jonathanprozzi ! Theres is no problem to trim my sessions to 60 minutes. I will give it a thought to see if I can still organize an hands-on part in it, as I would love to keep a participative space. But as the EU CO2 market needs some explanation, maybe I won't be able to include that. I'll complete the outline by next week. Kind wishes, Ana

Yeah, give it some thought @anouchk - I think your session in particular probably needs the 90 minutes. We just have a few too many 90 minute sessions at this point, some of the others may be able to keep things a bit shorter too. Cheers.

Hello @anouchk - we've created the first version of the Web Literacy Space schedule for the weekend and wanted you to have a look...

Please take a few minutes to locate your session (I've had to abbreviate the session names) and let us know if you have any questions or if there are any reasons that you cannot host your session during the chosen time (like a travel conflict or another session you are hosting at the same time). Please comment in this issue and and include @flukeout to get my attention.

We'll be finalizing the schedule next week and updating the Guidebook app that attendees will use during the festival.

Hello @anouchk - I'm writing to see if you'd be interested in helping out with the Thimble Zone. I'm trying to organize a few folks with HTML, CSS & JS skills who would like to demo mozilla's Thimble Editor. We'll have a few laptops set up with a sign and it would be great if we had a few volunteers to introduce people to it as well as get them started on some kind of beginner-friendly projects (or any ideas you may have).

If you're interested, let me know, and please also jump into the Etherpad and add your name and interest. I've also started a #thimble-zone channel in the Mozfest slack. Let me know if you have any questions!
