Hi @AyahSoufan, will any of the activity leaders be young people at all?
Hi @emrysgreen , From my experience in teaching girls how to code in the past 3 years, all mentors and coaches were young leaders, they are university students, fresh graduates or school teachers who are passionate about volunteering and teaching others new things to leave an impact in their communities. I hope this answers your question, please let me know if you have any other questions :)
@AyahSoufan what @emrysgreen is asking specifically is are any of the facilitators running this session a youth? i.e 8-25 :) Most sessions in the youth zone are run by those in that age range with the majority being teenagers, so I agree in this space of teaching youth to code, many are young and getting younger too :) In terms of the youth Zone our space is a place where youth aged 8+ come together to share their passion with each other and the wider festival
Hello @EPIKhub and @emrysgreen, Young leaders from 18 to 25 can run these sessions. They can teach kids from 8 to 17 how to create Android mobile applications using MIT App Inventor tool. Youth from 18 to 25 who know about coding can be mentors and coaches for other younger youth.
Hiya @AyahSoufan - is your plan to bring any of the young people to deliver this? Or are you suggesting that your could provide the session plan for young people to deliver?
Hi @emrysgreen, Since bringing young leaders with me is not easy, I want to ask if I can move this session to other zone rather than YouthZone. Another zone that related to teaching girls and kids how to code and teaching them how they can change their communities and the world to better place by programming.
@asoufan Have you heard we are doing a pre MozFest week in London? Your session might be ideal for there, one of our partners for the pre week is Tech- Girls. @Saallen is that an option?
@asoufan I will pass you onto Web lit as your second choice, thank you for submitting to the youth zone, we unfortunately this year cannot take your session.
Hello @AyahSoufan! I'm from the Web Literacy team and wanted to include myself on the comment thread. I also wanted to double-check about the stipend request. Is the stipend a requirement for your attendance or is there any way that you could attend without it? Thank you!
Hi there, Actually I will be in Southampton, UK. Since I got a scholership to studay Masters. I think stipend is not requirment. Thanks
@jonathanprozzi if I got accommodation it will be great, this the only thing I really need ! :)
Hello @AyahSoufan - We are very happy to announce you that we have decided to accept your session at the festival this year! Congratulations! 🎉
I confirm my presence
Hello @AyahSoufan! As MozFest is approaching we’re asking that you reply to this issue with an outline of the topics and activities for your session. A rough, bullet-point outline with time estimates would be ideal. Thank you and let us know if you have any questions.
Hi @jonathanprozzi , The topic is about my experience as a regional ambassador of a competition that teaches girls how to create mobile application:
I need around 30 minutes for the talk

Hello @AyahSoufan - we've created the first version of the Web Literacy Space schedule for the weekend and wanted you to have a look...
Please take a few minutes to locate your session (I've had to abbreviate the session names) and let us know if you have any questions or if there are any reasons that you cannot host your session during the chosen time (like a travel conflict or another session you are hosting at the same time). Please comment in this issue and and include @flukeout
to get my attention.
We'll be finalizing the schedule next week and updating the Guidebook app that attendees will use during the festival.
Thanks!
Hello @flukeout ,
I hope that my session "Girls for a change" will be earlier by one hour. Because I booked my ticket to go back from London to Southampton city on Sunday evening at 18:30 Which means that I should left early to catch the train. Nothing is guaranteed for London jams.
Thanks a lot Ayah
Hey @AyahSoufan - thanks for letting me know. I've made a note of that and will let you know when the schedule has been updated to accommodate your time. Thanks!

What will happen in your session?
I'll talk about my experience in introducing Mobile development and entrepreneurship for girls from 10 to 17 years old, who didn't hear before about these topics. I'll ask the audience to come with with creative ideas to convince girls, parents and school teachers to participate in activities that help girls to lean how to code and how to create their own business to solve problems in their communities.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
1- To share the importance of giving girls/kids the opportunity to solve their local problems using technology. 2- Share my experience in helping girls in rural villages learn about coding. 3- Get innovative ideas on how to convince parents and teachers to encourage kids to participate in coding competitions. 4- the main goal is to encourage the audience to teach kids how to code because it's a life changing experience.
