@shillontheroad Would you be up for modding this session to be more youth centric vs. educator centric as an idea?
@EPIKhub sure- will work on this over the next few days and mod onto this page. The visible thinking routine works well with that group as I prototyped this with 12-13 year old a few weeks back. Thanks
@shillontheroad please also share your citations especially on the visible thinking routine, would be interesting to read some background on this session
@EPIKhub Here's an update: Visible Thinking Routines are practices that help make thinking visible: Developed at Harvard as part of Project Zero, the routines loosely guide learners' thought processes and encourage active processing. This research based conceptual framework will guide participants through a specific routine: Generate-Sort-Connect-Elaborate to uncover the bio of a contemporary learner/webmaker. By uncovering passions, hobbies, learning styles and thinking deeper about personal expression & attitudes of a webmaker we will be begin to create a set of bios which will inspire & support learners, educators, curriculum designers to develop their understanding why we/they do what we/they do.
I'm thinking that this visible thinking routine may work as a fun remix of the homework excuse generator Thimble project- I will look at this.
@shillontheroad Thank you for the update
@ArtsAward this has your space as second choice, Im of 2 minds here, it's very much aimed at the Web lit space rather than fitting in the youth zone, should I pass it to Web Lit?
@EPIKhub I agree, please do pass this onto Web lit and we will take a fuller look.
Hello @shillontheroad - unfortunately we have decided not to include your session in the Web Literacy Space this year. We had many excellent submissions and unfortunately could accommodate only a small amount. Thank you for understanding and for submitting.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.

What will happen in your session?
The ‘Webmakers Learner Bio’ helps to inspire, motivate and focus the work of educators in the open web. Supporting learners to Write, Read, Participate on the web. Adapting the 21st Century skills from Mozilla White Paper Web Literacy 2.0 we will build on the work from the recent Global Sprint to create attributes for a contemporary ‘WebMaker ’. Participants will use the visible thinking routine, ‘Generate, Sort, Connect, Elaborate’ to generate key attributes for a contemporary ‘Webmaker Learner Bio’. Following this, example descriptors will support educators to plan and use the profile in their own settings.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
To answer the following essential questions: What should be the key attributes of a web literate learner? What does the bio of a contemporary learner on the open and public web look like? How will this bio support the Mozilla club, Campus Club network and beyond? To create a series of WebMaker attributes. To create a series of example descriptors for each attribute.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
