@shwetal27 what do you think about this session for your advocay track?
This looks very interesting indeed, not sure if this is specifically going to be fit in the youth zone, this can be an inter generational session

@chloeatplay this is such an important topic, is there a second or even 3rd space within the festival you would like me to add to your session for them to consider it? @Saallen
We can speak to Techfugees? To make this happen?

@chloeatplay https://github.com/chloeatplay - This sounds like a really interesing project, looks amazing. This would be an awesome submission for next year with some youth refugees coming to MozFest where we might be able to facilitate their being invited. This year the session does not fall within the space narrative but could you please explore the other space we have at the festival and let me know which one you would like your session to be passed on to so you will have a chance to be sellected still.

@shwetal27 your choice? I can pass them to Open innovation as requested or you can speak to techfugees
Awesome, thanks all- how about the Open Innovation space? @ErikHub
Yeah sure we can pass them on, as the applications close tomorrow, not sure how long Techfugees will take to get back

Sounds like passing along to the Open Innovation space is best, let me know how i can help :)
Also see https://github.com/MozillaFoundation/mozfest-program-2017/issues/185 with digital inclusion so they might like to see this
@chloeatplay all done for you
Yes, could be a fit for Digital Inclusion
I just spotted the facilitator name 👋 @chloeatplay. Delighted to see your submission
Hi @Saallen, @shwetal27, @EPIKhub, @msaunby, @kenyatta1 - I don't think Open Innovation will be able to accept this session. I'm going to remove the milestone. Sorry for being so slow in this process 😞
@chloeatplay we have plenty of space at mozFest this year for emergent sessions and will have tables ppl can grab to host sessions over the weekend- do you think you will make it over without a stipend?
hey @Saallen unfortunately not! thanks for the suggestion though :)
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.

What will happen in your session?
"We are now witnessing the highest levels of displacement on record. An unprecedented 65.6 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 22.5 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18." -UNHRC
This is a vast and real problem. It's time we start seriously thinking how the spaces in refugee camps are designed to adapt and facilitate the pedagogical needs of play that help children develop cognitive skills and cope with trauma.
We would like to run a session that will harness the open design communitys’ ideas to develop a playground solution for refugee camps; what we call “play in a box”.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
We are looking to get a design brief out of this session that can help us further prototype some first iterations of the box.
The session will include a hands on prototyping part as well as discussion around some key questions such as
-What are the play patterns that are most popular and support psychosocial health and wellbeing/healing in refugee camps? -How does play manifest itself in this environment, games? Objects? Playgrounds? -Building on those patterns, what are the greatest needs around play for displaced youth? What are potential design solutions? -How can these solutions mitigate conflict in refugee camps and overcome multicultural barriers? -How do we build a distribution network and an open design community that contributes to the project?
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
It would be ideal to get cardboard boxes, fabric, glue guns, markers etc as a prototyping suite.
