FYI, the facilitator's name, @_vecna on twitter, is Claudio Agosti (me on github)
Hi @_vecna My name is Melissa and I'm helping curate some of the policy/advocacy sessions across MozFest. I'm wondering if the stipend requested here is for you or Renata, or for both? Thanks!
Hi Melissa @Melechuga, I just talk with Renata about.
It is for both as sadly we are doing our research and project without budget but we are flying from close in Europe. If your budget cannot cover accommodation one of us or both (Depending on our luck with friends) could ask for a friend in London to house us.
Hi @vecna No worries; thanks for letting me know. Is it correct to assume that you'd like to have separate rooms?
Hi @Melechuga, it is correct, thanks
CONGRATULATIONS! Your session proposal has been accepted.
Renata and @_vecna our team will be in further contact with you via email in the coming days.
@Melechuga confirming acceptance email was sent Monday
Hiya @vecna we're locking in ticketing this week. I have Renata's email contact info but need all the additional facilitators names and emails. Could you please have this sent by EMAIL to me by THURSDAY October 12?
Hi Bunny, can you share with me your email info so I can send those? Thanks.
Finally reading this on Sunday! Sorry for the silence. Thanks for already supplying the info in email.
This session is now locked down.
I'm really sorry @bunnybooboo, I was passing by some trouble and I forget to do it. There is anything I can do now?
Hey no worries @vecna I think we're all good here now. Renata supplied additional details for you and Suzie.

[ Session Name ] Data in politics: why privacy matters for free and fair elections? [ Primary Space ] Privacy and Security [ Secondary Space ] Web Literacy
[ Submitter's Name ] Renata Avila [ Submitter's Affiliated Organisation ] World Wide Web Foundation
[ Additional facilitators ] Claudio Agosti @_vecna,
What will happen in your session?
Recent political campaigns and processes around the World show that there has been a sharp rise in the use of online spaces as part of electoral and political debate. How can we ensure this transition strengthens freedom of expression and free and fair elections in the South, where elections are still fragile? And, how can digital tools help nurture rather than undermine electoral processes? How relevant is privacy and literacy when you are participating in elections? Our session will discuss a mix of soft and hard regulations for online political advertising, and complimentary online privacy protections for voters with concrete examples of recent political processes and emerging regulation North and South.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
Our attendees will understand better the emerging challenges and opportunities that the Internet offers during elections. We will have a conversation around three different concerns: (1) the impact of politically-targeted advertising and its vendors; (2) The digital gap of those lacking the literacy to follow electoral campaigns online; and (3) why data privacy matters for voters?
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
We do not need. We will bring a box with "old school, vintage electoral posters and postcards to remind us how far are those days... Attendees can collect them and bring them home after the session.
