Hello Susan Lechelt - We are very happy to announce you that we have decided to accept your session at the festival this year! Congratulations! 🎉
amazing, thanks for the news! looking forward to it :D
Confirming I'll be coming.
Is it possible to do this as a drop in on only one of the days rather than both? cheers!
Hello, @zlechelt ! We will evaluate if is possible! :) thanks for your quickly feedaback! ( @flukeout @jonathanprozzi )
Hello hello @edovio ! Just wanted to check if you have any more details on the scheduling of the session? I may need to find a co-facilitator or two depending on the length of the session so it would be wonderful to know about the format whenever possible. Thanks so much!
Dear Facilitators, we are happy to share with you the MozFest facilitators 2017 Guide at the Link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fezzIH8u0Li6pIHMNYDCuUjA_gHpB4Px9eXQo4Ol7es/edit It is also important to sign in here: https://public.etherpad-mozilla.org/p/festival.fabriders.facilitatorcoaching2017 for the coaching session, that helps you in your facilitation role! :)
Hey @zlechelt - we'll have a rough schedule by the end of this week and will let you know. Do you have a preference for the type of session you would like to host? Looking at the breakdown of the sessions we have now, I think maybe a slightly longer drop-in session would work well. Let me know your preferences.
Oh, just saw that you'd requested a single-day drop in @zlechelt - that is totally fine, let me know how long of a session you'd be comfortable with!
@flukeout thanks for the reply! I'm flexible with the length -- maybe could do something like 3 or 4 hours? whatever fits best with the schedule
Hello @zlechelt - we've created the first version of the Web Literacy Space schedule for the weekend and wanted you to have a look...
Please take a few minutes to locate your session (I've had to abbreviate the session names) and let us know if you have any questions or if there are any reasons that you cannot host your session during the chosen time (like a travel conflict or another session you are hosting at the same time). Please comment in this issue and and include @flukeout
to get my attention.
We'll be finalizing the schedule next week and updating the Guidebook app that attendees will use during the festival.
Thanks!
@flukeout Wonderful, this looks great, thank you. On a side note, I will have a co-facilitator during the session, whose name is Can Liu (Researcher at the UCL Interaction Centre). Would it be possible to add her name where relevant, and make sure she has a facilitator pass for the weekend? (if there is someone else I need to contact, just let me know!)
Thanks so much
Yes of course. Could you please send me her email to luke@mozillafoundation.org and I'll make sure she is added. Thanks!
thanks! just e-mailed you
👍
@flukeout one more question: the schedule shows our session as being only one hour, 1-2 pm. is this right? thought it would be a drop in over a few hours thanks, Susan
@zlechelt Yes, that's right—sorry! I'll find a 3 hour spot and update the schedule accordingly!
@zlechelt Still finalizing the schedule, but I think we'll find a spot for you that will run roughly from 12:30 to 3:15 on Saturday. I'll re-jig the calendar and let you know, just about to board the plane to London. I'll assume that you are available sometime in and around that time range, let me know if you won't be.
Hello @zlechelt - I've updated your session time on Saturday so that it runs from 12:45 until 3:00. Let me know if that works for you! If you'd like additional time, we could schedule some extra time on the Sunday. I've updated Guidebook to reflect this. Cheers!
Hi @flukeout that's perfect -- thanks a mil, and see you this weekend.

What will happen in your session?
This session will give participants the opportunity to try programming a novel physical toolkit called the Magic Cubes (website: codeme.io). The Arduino-based toolkit has a variety of sensors (e.g., temperature, acceleration, pulse rate) and actuators (e.g., LEDs), as well as Bluetooth to play around with. Participants can make, for example simple sensor-based animations, visualise their personal health data, or even create complex wireless systems. This would work best as a drop-in session, for example for a few hours on one day of the festival, where people can stay as long as they like. A variety of printed tutorials will be provided to suit all experience levels -- from kids who have never programmed before, to IoT experts.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
The rise of the IoT calls for more practical skills with hardware, especially programming microcontrollers, understanding sensor data and having a working knowledge of wireless transmission. This session will aim to help participants develop a working knowledge of these topics through hands-on exploration. It would also be great to exhibit the most interesting/fun creations made by the participants at the demo fair at the end of the festival.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
