Your proposal has reached the Digital Inclusions team's next phase of selection.
@Mothercyborg I'm seeking clarity on your stipend request. Your proposal has made it through to the next phase of consideration by the Digital Inclusion wrangler team. Unfortunately though, we've got way more seeking stipends than we have access to. If we were unable to give you access to a stipend, might you have other means available to you to make it to Mozfest?
Hello! That is wonderful news. My organization could pay for one of the two presenters travel and possible housing , but we would need support with housing and travel for the other. Hopefully that helps!
Best, Diana

What will happen in your session?
The Equitable Internet Initiative (EII), based in Detroit, MI is a collaborative effort to ensure that Detroit residents have the ability to leverage digital technologies for social and economic development through the development of 3 community wireless networks. Because each neighborhood suffers from a variety of injustices, neither have the same technology needs. We needed a common ground, so we collaboratively built a set of shared working principles. In this session, EII organizers will share the methods and lessons learned in building and practicing these principles. Participants will understand the multiple ways these principles can look in practice and walk away with a clear process on how to collaboratively create a set of shared principles themselves.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
If you are not working toward equality when building and using technology you are exacerbating the problems of inequality. The goal of this session is to offer a principled framework for technologist that are interested in working collaboratively towards equality while respecting the individual issues of each community and end user. Our goal is to teach our participatory facilitation methods so participants can go on to build principles within their communities while offering a variety of examples of what principles can look like in practice. As a big picture we see this as an opportunity to cultivate more responsible, collaborative and community centered technologist.
