Hey @daniellecrobinson—I'm one of the curators of the Digital Inclusion space. I can definitely see this fitting into either the Digital Inclusion space or the Open Innovation space.
Do you imagine this like a panel, where you'd invite specific people to attend and share, or would it be more of an open conversation amongst whoever attends? (Or a combination of both?)
@hannahkane We'd like to have it be a round table conversation - definitely not a panel of experts talking. I was hoping to tap into the global Moz community to hear from community members about their experiences with publishing, accessing, and using published research
I think in other years this would have been on the science floor, but the session is really about people and access so that's why I was thinking Digital Inclusion
We are totally flexible though, if you think it'd be better in Open Innovation that works too
This proposal has progressed to our next phase of deliberation! We will be following up shortly.
@daniellecrobinson Congratulations! We are very happy to announce that we have accepted your session at the festival this year! We will be in touch with additional information in the coming weeks.

What will happen in your session?
The Open Access (OA) movement advocates for free, online access to data and research, including free re-use. In this session, we will discuss issues facing OA advocates around the world. Disconnecting people from scholarly research reduces the trust of people in institutions, reduces the impact of scholarly work, and creates artificial barriers to knowledge. Are language barriers, costs, access to infrastructure, and/or censorship impacting your community’s access to scholarship, education, and data? Do you want to learn more about OA around the world and connect with OA advocates? Please join Mozilla Science and SPARC (https://sparcopen.org/) for a round table discussion to celebrate global Open Access Week with conversation about access to research and scholarship in your community.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
Our goals is to meet people, hear about the barriers to Open Access in all institutions, communities, and parts of the world that face OA challenges. We want to surface innovative strategies from around the world and learn from the global community. We want to discuss what outreach strategies are impactful in different communities. We want to create a space to have conversation around inclusion, access, and equity in scholarship and academia. How could Open Access advocacy organizations better support your community?
