Pssst, I have a secret to tell you @mgoessen! The Privacy and Secret Security wrangler team have advanced your proposal to the next phase of consideration. We're big fans of libraries in fact!
BUT I have to check in with you too about the stipends. We're strictly limited with the number we have, and sadly we might have to refuse some really excellent proposals because of this. If we were unable to offer you access to a stipend this year, would have any options available to you to still come to Mozfest?
Hi @bunnybooboo !
Thanks you for the reply, we will be really glad to be able to join :-)
If stipends are a problem, maybe can we ask only for 2 stipends on top of 4. It would allow us to secure our coming and let us check with our institutions for the two others or let you handle them in a best case basic. How does that sound ?
Btw, we gave a look to other proposals, especially this one https://github.com/MozillaFoundation/mozfest-program-2017/issues/196 If you like, we will be happy to try to have our session in the detox bar (for example in the end of the weekend ?) if you believe it's relevant and possible.
Anyway thanks you for the reply and for your work. Keep us in touch :-)
@mgoessen I'm genuinely so sorry, but the Privacy and Security team have had to not add your session to our final program schedule. I liked this one a lot.
We collective deemed this proposal as Outstanding
which has made our decision all the more difficult. We ended up doing around SIX phases of selection and you got through five of them. Really nice work!!.
If you get to explore this topic further, be sure to ping one of us. A community of us all concerned about these issues is so inspiring!
Hi @bunnybooboo !
No worries, we saw the amount of proposal and are sure that difficult choices has to be made.
We will sure continue to work on this topic. Feel free to reach me at mathieu@mozfr.org if you want to discuss a bit more about (or cryptobib-request@groupes.renater.fr, also read by the others).
Anyway, thanks for your work, and enjoy the Mozfest !
Cheers,
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.

What will happen in your session?
When, in 2013, Edward Snowden disclosed a Global Surveillance Program conducted by USA National security Agency and partners, various organizations started initiatives to raise user privacy and preserving freedoms : Internet standardizations committees, Human rights organizations, Medias, Educational institutions, Free software communities produced numerous content in order to protect people from global surveillance.
In this session we will discuss roles and impacts that public libraries could and should play among those initiatives and how they could participate empowering users to keep them safe on the Internet. Leveraging experience of cryptoparties we organized in public libraries in Rennes, France we would like to exchange about why and how libraries should organize their own and act daily for the protection of privacy.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
Facilitating small discussion groups, we would like to help participants to allow themselves organizing cryptoparties by finding solutions collectively to the following issues :
