Gina - thank you for your submission.

This is a great idea. Can you speak directly to the elements of digital inclusion that tie in here? How will pathways to re-entry be influenced by or include access?

Hi Leah,

The elements of digital inclusion include providing inmates access to tablet technology for education, vocation and self improvement with respect. Attention is focused on ensuring safety to society while creating an Internet with content and entertainment for self guided personalized learning. All the information, tools and self improvement strategies are specifically geared to individual who are impacted by incarceration. In the USA incarcerated (jail & prison) adults have limited and/or no access to education and/or rehabilitation while confined. The digital inclusion also addresses reentry, communications, and digital literacy. The power of the internet is harnessed to establish on a secure network which provides justice involved individuals with access to a wide range of educational course including GED certification, Lexis Nexis to work on their case, job training for reentry to society and more. Edovo is piloting an Edovo Go feature that enables continuity of programming into probation and parole.

As an example, Edovo connects inmates to social services to aid and support individuals reentry to society. The pathway to reentry includes a "Goals" section with a playlist of lessons and/or activities for inmates. Edovo is committed to building resources with content partners to provide more diverse, contributors. Currently, Edovo connects learners to thousand of lessons across academic, vocational, and treatment programming.

Thanks,

Gina

@GinaGrant - I'm seeking clarity on your stipend request. Your proposal has made it through to the next phase of consideration by the Digital Inclusion wrangler team. Unfortunately though, we've got way more seeking stipends than we have access to. If we were unable to give you access to a stipend, might you have other means available to you to make it to Mozfest? If you would like we can also have this conversation via email.

I appreciate being considered for a Digital Inclusion travel stipend. I'm excited that I've advanced to the next round of the selection process. Yes, let's take the conversation offline via email. Thanks so much!

Unfortunately, we didn't feel this session quite fit within the Digital Inclusion space this year, so we've removed the milestone to allow other spaces to consider your proposal.

GinaGrant commented 7 years ago

I appreciate your consideration of my proposal. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.

Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.
