@biakira I'm sorry to inform you that we've had to not accept your session through to the final Privacy and Security schedule. I was an early fan of this one too, so it breaks my heart to have to finally say no.
Additionally our team flagged this proposal as Outstanding
, so we've been trying every possible way to include it. Thanks so much for taking the time to submit this great idea to us, and thank you for your patience through this rigorous process.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest. Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
Thank you for taking the time to submit and we will follow up on email very soon.

What will happen in your session?
In this session, a diverse group of experts will discuss the intersection of smart city technologies, privacy and data protection, and global development. We will look at emerging frameworks for cities to regulate and gather valuable urban planning information from companies, and how they reflect on the use of data both by the public and the private sector in smart cities.
As cities and companies harness more data than ever, how can we assess the risks and opportunities of new technologies and data flows while preserving individual privacy and building public trust? And how can developing countries navigate between initiatives that could save money and modernize public administration but that may come with a significant cost of privacy?
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
The goal of the session is to engage different stakeholders and fields of knowledge (public administration, architects and urban planners, companies and scholars) that praise the use of technology for the development of cities, while concerned with safeguards for the collection, use, sharing, and disposal of personal data.
The session aims to ultimately expose different perspectives on the use of data in smart cities, raise awareness of privacy and data protection challenges in both the developed and the developing world, and build bridges for future collaboration.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
