What will happen in your session?

We will provide an overview of lessons learned by digital security trainers in small group training and how they are applicable to larger scale communications and communications in other settings about digital security and privacy. Then there will be a facilitated discussion about problems caused by trying to use fear or other coercive emotions to increase understanding and change security behaviors. Depending on the number of participants, we may have small group breakouts to discuss how to build positive feelings about digital security and proactive actions and then have everyone come back together and share actionable conclusions from the discussions.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

The desired outcome is the attendees to leave with a better understanding what constitutes good digital security communication and at a couple of concrete ways they can improve what they are currently doing in this area or start talking about this with more confidence that they are helping move our collective discussion of digital security forward.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

I like to keep it fairly low tech, especially since this is not a hands-on technical training. A white poast to paper would be nice, but not essential.

Privacy and Security have decided to not take this proposal. Freeing up the milestone so other spaces and tracks can now openly consider it.
