What will happen in your session?

As a person who has been mentored through Skype calls by a person in UK while I am in Uganda over one and a half years to build credibility for my organization to make it fit for financing I feel there is need to share my experience and challenges through the journey.

The expensive internet data costs in Uganda almost made it impossible for me to participate in the calls, but persistence drove me to success.

As the world now focuses on youth led development, there still remains a gap between the knowledge that the older generation & Global North holds and the youth. It is expensive to fly the facilitators and the internet would come in handy.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Communicate to the policy makers to ensure the internet is made cheaper and more affordable as it is a key element to youth led development.
Make both the old and young generations understand their role in ensuring there is transfer of skills and knowledge in a more efficient and cheaper model.
Make it clear to the funders that it is important for them not only look at financing youth projects but also ensure they invest in capacity building of the young people struggling to make their projects credible.
