[ Submitter's Name ] Christina Birt

What will happen in your session?

Children age 10 & 11 years, will present and deliver an interactive participative workshop illustrating the power of young person’s voice and the effect on children and young people and others when their voices are heard on the web. This workshop will be drawn from the experience the children had from their involvement in Creative Critics 2017 where they learnt skills in arts criticism, became Festival reviewers and had their work published by Bury Free Press on-line. The session will open with a presentation from Christina Birt providing context for the project and will close with a presentation from Christina Birt highlighting the key aspects and outcomes of this work and facilitating questions and answers. Arts Award Explore is embedded within the project.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

The focus is on Digital Inclusion The goal/outcome will be for participants to: • consider the right of the children to be heard and for their opinion to be taken seriously (human rights act) within the context of the web and the value for everyone and the benefits that can be gained when this is done effectively • be moved by the children and their perspectives, and as a result be motivated to consider children’s equality of access and participation across the web • to gain insight and information about how to gain children’s voice • inspiration and new ideas about how to work with and consider children’s opinions and development of children and young people’s critical thinking skills in the light of ‘fake news’.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

We will need facility for powerpoint (audio and visual). Flipchart paper.

Expenses note - We will only be able to attend with expenses covered. Our approximate expenses for up to five children and 2 adults is £600. (This is based on the expenses we incurred for the last conference in London in June)

@emrysgreen @ArtsAward - Is this session being short listed for a Arts award bursary?

emrysgreen commented 6 years ago

We'll be discussing Tuesday, although we won't be able to afford to support the full request for definite.

emrysgreen commented 6 years ago

Hi Christina and @EPIKhub - unfortunately we won't be able to offer an Arts Award bursary as due to limited funds and demand we're having to prioritise these for those who will achieve awards as part of Mozfest.

Would you be able to attend in some way without these funds Christina?

EPIKhub commented 6 years ago

@emrysgreen unfortunately we don't have the funds to cover their costs either so will remove our milestone
