What brings me to this project:
I like the idea of teaching things through games, and specially role-playing games. I've been a RPG player and game master for the last 12 years. I like to test new concepts and mechanics, adapt games to the audience and always enjoy people reactions in an adventure, specially newcomers, as they are always full of surprise and creativity.
Given the right tools and context, players may create something new and unexpected that can be reused later.
I also like the idea of using git and github for things else than code. I think the open-source way to do things should be used as an inspiration in almost every other domain and I'm please to see it ported to game creation.
What you would like to work on for this project:
Contribute to one or more new adventures (that may include some custom rules).
Welcome @gael-ian !
Thanks for joining us, @gael-ian!
Welcome @Salindurthas !
Hello, @Salindurthas!
Hello @DMRaven !
BTW, @DMRaven @gael-ian @Salindurthas , feel free to poke around in the other threads and contribute ideas or ask questions. We're still in an idea generation phase. And we'll eventually get you copies of the game, hopefully soon.
Hey there, @DMRaven!

Hi @dexterduck !
Thanks for joining the group. A convention worthy one-shot emphasizing infosec principles is exactly what I'm hoping to get out of the project, too! Excited to collaborate on this.

Awesome. Welcome, @ashgamedesign!
Your Name: Jeremy Wunders Your GitHub handle: villain4hire What brings you to this project: I am developing my own RPG and am heavily inspired by cryptomancer. Donating work to it will make me feel better about ripping it off. Lulz What you would like to work on for this project: I'm building an adventure that puts players in a role as agents of the riskeaters. There are 5 parties they are tracking activity on, and have to figure out which one is supposed to find or build a war golem that is prophecies to bring down shard-nets. If they can get this info before it becomes reality they might just save the world. Who will they have to blackmail, kill, or erase from existence to get this done. Will they be able to live with themselves afterwards.
Welcome @ashgamedesign !
Welcome @villain4hire ! Sounds like a fun adventure. In the spirit of the Global Sprint, it would be really awesome if you emphasized how the Risk Eaters hunt down and track their quarry using Shardnets and the Shardscape, in order to teach how a group or community's online behaviors can be gathered and analyzed to be used against them. Ping me if you need ideas!
Hello & welcome, @villain4hire!
Your Name: Parker Martin Your GitHub handle: Plotanical What brings you to this project: I love stories and game mechanics. I want to use Cryptomancer's mechanics to tell a compelling story. What you would like to work on for this project: I want to write a standalone adventure.
Thank you for joining the project, @Plotanical!
Your Name: Kade Your GitHub handle: KadeMorton What brings you to this project: I love infosec and fantasy What you would like to work on for this project: I'd like to contribute characters, stories and adventure scenarios, but probably after the Sprint as I'm going to be managing my own project.
Welcome to the project, @KadeMorton!
Your Name: Fabio Emilio Costa Your GitHub handle: fabiocosta0305 What brings you to this project: I'm a Hardcore RPG player and Free Software user and advocate, and I would like to either know new settings and systems What you would like to work on for this project: I can review and write characters, setting and adventures. I just need the system... :)
@fabiocosta0305 - wonderful! Thank you for joining us. Jump right into an issue that interests you and let us know how to help.
@fabiocosta0305 - email me at chad at mozillafoundation dot org for a copy of the game once you register for the sprint here:
Your Name: Kate Your GitHub handle: ksedivyhaley
What brings you to this project: The Mozilla Sprint. The project caught my eye because I'm a GM, been running my own adventures/settings for years and recently started thinking about game design. Love the idea of gamification and in particular teaching using RPGs.
What you would like to work on for this project: Main strengths are writing and RPG experience, and I'm happy to use those however you need. Probably best at proofreading, improving clarity of text, and writing summaries. Adventure development would be neat if I can contribute on the "what makes a fun adventure level" instead of the "how do we express information security concepts" end. I'd like to stick around after the sprint if I can.
Welcome, @ksedivyhaley! Thank you for joining us - please do stick around after the sprint! In the meantime, if you need a copy of the game, register here...

Hi @fabiocosta0305 ! Welcome.
Hi @ksedivyhaley ! Also welcome. Feel free to email @chadsansing for your free PDF of the game. Also, we could use some writing/summary/creativity in issues #12 (escaping a dungeon) and #17 (infiltrating a masquerade ball). No experience with the game/setting needed.
@cryptomancer-actual - Sounds great, thanks for the tip!
@chadsansing - I am registered. Do you need a reference number to confirm?
@ksedivyhaley - nope. Just email me!
Your Name: Phil Culmer Your GitHub handle: BrotherPhil What brings you to this project: I came across it on bOING bOING, and thought it looked interesting What you would like to work on for this project: I'm a bit rusty on RPGs, but thought I might be able to help with things like subediting, and discussing ideas for the mechanics behind stuff, as I'm a grammar nz and also into things like philosophy, engineering, and theology.
Welcome @BrotherPhil !
To get a free PDF of Cryptomancer,
1) Register for the sprint: https://mozilla.github.io/global-sprint/register/
2) ...and then email chad at mozillafoundation dot org.
In the meantime, feel free to jump into any thread that looks interesting. No experience with the game or RPGs necessary.
Thanks for joining up, @BrotherPhil - and, also, what @cryptomancer-actual said!
Your name: Dakota Bloom Your GitHub Handle: RogueAutodidact What brings you to this project: Like @BrotherPhil, I saw this on BoingBoing. Thought it looked interesting. What you would like to work on for this project: Working on my own setting based on Indonesian & Hindu folklore where telepathy is common (and thus telecommunications is present). Thought there could be some interesting cross-pollination around non-Euro creatures, how communications impacts fantasy worlds, and alternate magic ideas. I can add in some of the creatures I have adapted from said South & Southeast Asian folktales.
Also built out an Inception homebrew using a bastardized version of FAE, and enjoy writing scenarios for secret agent types. Could cross-pollinate from that too.
Thanks for joining us, @RogueAutodidact - the repo will be here for folks to work on together!
