Implement new design for mozilla.org/foundation page

Overview

As a follow-up from https://github.com/MozillaFoundation/Design/issues/193, make adjustments to the page on mozilla.org/foundation to look like the image below that @sabrinang created.

Not sure if this overlaps with #825 that @KevZawacki filed, but, we'll need to know if it does so we can plan for implementing those pages as well.

@mmmavis has some sense of how long this might take: ~2 days, but the review process will likely be long.

Considering this a candidate for Sept 16, but will have to discuss with the Going Global team to see how it fits in with our other work before we definitely commit.

If it doesn't work for the Going Global team, @secretrobotron and I can discuss other options.

@KevZawacki I have the same question! That #825 didn't have any movement, and I wasn't sure if it encompassed a whole new design for pages on /foundation. Let's combine if easier.

If I may insert an opinion here (knowing I don't have all the context): I don't think we should add more pages and more text until we've made the landing page stronger. It'll complicate things without making our home any stronger.

I have finished content for Advocacy, Leadership and Issues, but just waiting on final approval. I should have it by this Friday. I think to fit into next heartbeat it needs to be submitted by 17th, right? However, I would love guidance on best navigation given redesign of landing page.

@hannahkane after speaking with @mmmavis and @sabrinang a bit, there is a process that we should go through for proper iteration on design, and a potentially lengthy period of time to do implementation because of review process.

It makes sense to kick off this whole thing as a piece of work at the beginning of next heartbeat.

Can you say more about the proper iteration on design? Would like to know how much effort to account for, given other planned work in the next heartbeat.

Certainly, and @sabrinang can add colour.

1. The existing design is only for the main page, and probably needs another round of review.
2. The other pages need to be put through the same treatment and go through review.
3. There are other implications to consider with @Lottarao and @samanthaburton's help, like IA on the site (however small it may be). @sabrinang can suggest a couple options that we can play with.

@sabrinang - would it be possible for you to estimate the % of the heartbeat you think this will take? Would be useful for planning the next heartbeat.

Cool. Working backwards, how much time is required for implementation and shipping?

@mmmavis has quoted a couple of days of implementation (see above), and lots of time to review—unable to get a specific answer yet, but we're in dialog with the moco team there. Mavis' experience suggests a couple of weeks, but they seem to be a bit more on top of it.

That's roughly 2.5 weeks of lead time, I think.

Good kickoff today. Starting work, pending broader kickoff meeting with @hannahkane. Todo list:

• @alanmoo will start the build
• @sabrinang will implement @Lottarao design changes to compare to current ones
• @sabrinang will reach out to a designer to check her work
• Check with @Lottarao to see if any other copy needs to change (aside from the 4 pages @sabrinang mocked up)
• Make sure @KevZawacki has seen this and approves 👍
• @alanmoo and @secretrobotron will update MoCo again when the build is ready to review
• @alanmoo and @sabrinang will update this issue if priority conflicts come up in the kickoff meeting

Yes, but use the "suggest changes" functionality, makes it easier for me to see the differences.

@xmatthewx I grabbed this template from the 'about' page style. I could change this, though a.) I was trying to keep changes to a minimum b.) At 320px wide (the generally agreed upon 'minimum' phone size), there is no tan margin

Edit: though I think I've found a quick fix for this and agree it looks better...
