Vivy was referred by Julia V from Hive NYC on April 4. We connected and she attended the April 2015 Hive Global Community Call. Vivy is a well connected educator who from her last e-mail is making major in-roads:

It's going great! I had a meeting with a student leader from USC yesterday and we'd like to have a pop up Hive get-together this summer at USC. Who is the former HIVE person? Would be interested in connecting with her/him. I connected with quite a few new education entities in the area who joined for Yang Camp's Youth Pitch Day, so I'd like to capitalize on those relationships soon.

Conversation with Krystal she is currently working on submitting an Ignite proposal to discuss bringing a Hive to L.A at DML.

Krystal Meisel (formerly Hive Chicago) is also in LA and interested in starting up a Hive Community. She's been working with Sue Thotz and Rex B. to consider hosting a Hive LA potluck or other informal gathering on Friday night during DML - awaiting update to see if that will still happen.

Vivy and Krystal are the main drivers of the team and both will be at DML this week

They're looking to raise some $ starting with selling their buzzworthy Hamster T-shirts - kickstarter to launch soon.

Krystal also reached out following the call asking to connect with Vineel in Bangalore (after he also presented on the call).

Hive LA team met last week. Taking youth-centric approach to highlight social justice and community engagement.

Planning Indiegogo campaign featuring 2 minute video with youth to help grow Hive, with youth as leaders.

I met with Riley, super star LAUSD teacher, after our meeting and she is going to reach out to teachers who are engaged in summer school, provide a guided set of questions and see what youth have to say about the potential of becoming networked in Los Angeles!

Vivy, do you have access to youth this summer that we may be able to ask and film for the fundraising video?

Team Mya and Fish (with help from everyone) will film/edit a knock out 2 min video and we will launch an Indigogo.

I am going to start housing all of this info online so that we can be transparent. Does anyone have any desire to add to the construction of a simple website?

Let's check with Rebecca asap on indiegogo campaign for hive - these are individual donors, so need to follow up ala end of year campaign overlap/thanks yous and tax write off notes - who do they come from?

Also need to vet the final video beofre it goes live ala the qualityof messaging element. how faciltiate that/who is final approval? Chris? you? Rebecca?

As of September 2015, Krystal, Vivy and two others on team have taken full time teaching positions. They are still interested in Hive L.A but are establishing educator relationships in school boards
