Discussed in https://github.com/MrDrummer/DerailValleyPlanner/discussions/15

Originally posted by **MrDrummer** July 22, 2023 The original Spreadsheet version of the app displayed the train visually like so: ![image](https://github.com/MrDrummer/DerailValleyPlanner/assets/10013572/50f5d2a7-4847-4bdd-8177-5815cbe5ba1a) We need something similar within this app, but that takes less space. I am thinking icons with lines, and not displaying any text. This is what the Journey page is intended for. Ideally the train visualization should also be horizontal, but this may not be feasible. Currently drag and drop within the software I am using isn't possible. So there will need to be an Edit button of some kind for switching the order. (or `<` `>` keys for each job?) Any further thoughts and ideas welcome!

I don't know how feasible this is, but what I would suggest is something where it only shows the current makeup of the train (jobs entered that aren't "complete") and the destinations. You'd be able to add the locomotive(s) and re-order the jobs that are currently in your train to match in-game (with clickable arrows if possible). The train would be able to wrap around according to the size of the DVP window. A more advanced version would have the number of cars, load/unload state, mass, and length of each job. Maybe even representing the jobs with their cars visually, to get really fancy. See concept art: derail valley planner concept

Hmmm. Good ideas! The main thing I am after, though, is the ability to visually see where a consist is going in the overall order of the Journey. Like in the Google Sheets.

I want to be able to visually see that I can put e.g. steel wagons denstined to GF between two consists destined for the FF (assuming I am going north on the east side of the map). (with the aim to make as little cuts as possible)

The current makeup of the train (even visually like you suggest) can always go into the "journey" screen, which I aim to show the current information. e.g. the current train, highlighting the wagons to drop off, and where any wawgons picked up will end up going. It'll list all consist changes with full job descriptions to help the user.
