uftt r439 does not work under windows 2000 #3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Boot windows 2000
2. Download either uftt-xp-r439.exe or uftt-9x-r439.exe
3. Run either uftt-r439-xp.exe or uftt-r439-9x.exe

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The uftt main window should be shown and the program should function as
intended.
Instead the windows xp version instantly quits without any message
whatsoever (even when run from cmd.exe it just instantly quits with any
message being printed to the console). The windows 9x version is terminated
by windows with the following message:
---8<---------
uftt-9x-r439.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.
[OK]
--->8---------

However no error message is present in the windows event logs (that I can
see anyway).

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

As a workaround you could use uftt-9x-r401, which in my tests does work in
Windows 2000.

I think this is already fixed in trunk, so if you compile from svn that might
fix it too.

This means it will most likely be fixed in the next release.

Please test again and change to Verified if it works with uftt-9x-r482.

Confirmed working for the 9x version, the xp version still exits without
warning.
Perhaps it is possible to let the versions give a message about this? E.g. the
XP
version says something like 'you need uftt-9x for use on windows 9x/2000' and
vice-versa for uftt-xp. (please reopen if this is indeed possible, it might be
that
XP binaries simply can not run under older versions of windows?)
