Emby - manual login via https? #40

Open horstepipe opened 6 years ago

horstepipe commented 6 years ago

Hey Am i correct that a manual login (without Emby connect) is not possible to a remote Emby server via https? Is this a limitation you can’t avoid because of the App Store restrictions?

Best regards

MrMC commented 6 years ago

No restriction that I’ve heard of.

https://wiki.mrmc.tv/index.php?title=Emby https://wiki.mrmc.tv/index.php?title=Emby

It will use http or https as defined on server side.

Please describe exactly what you are trying to do and expect.

horstepipe commented 6 years ago

Ok so why it is written like this in the MrMC Emby settings?: „Emby manual Sign-In (local)“

This gives the impression that you can only manually log in to local servers, not to remote ones. When I press that button, I see „Protocol - http“ But when I click on the up or down arrow, the protocol does not change to https. „

horstepipe commented 6 years ago

When I‘m trying it anyway to connect to my Emby server via https by entering https//embyserverdomain.com, I‘m getting this notification: Could not connect to retrieve Emby token

MrMC commented 6 years ago

Ahh, that’s right, manual relies on broadcast to find servers. We can look into making remote possible.

Any reason why you are not using Emby pin request ?

horstepipe commented 6 years ago

Okay thank you. Honestly because I don’t know how „Emby Connect“ exactly works, which is of my understanding a prerequisite to use the pin feature. I like to keep things as private as possible.

We understand :)

Hey:-) @MrMC @horstepipe

I am just like the previous speaker, I would like to buy the app, but only if the https connection is synonymous. At the moment I have my Emby running on a local server and would not like to use EmbyConnect. Do I have any way to connect directly via https? In the Emby app that works without EmbyConnect via https protocol.

Incidentally, it works by Http protocol.

Offtopic: Iphone X are still some layout errors.

Excuse my english...

Thanks and best regards Seger

Hey MrMC, Just curious if this is on your road map at all?

MrMC commented 6 years ago

yes

optimalt commented 6 years ago

I'm glad I found this thread and that this is on the roadmap! Tried connecting manually over https to a remote emby server all night yesterday without luck.

MrMC commented 6 years ago

Next push into TestFlight will enable https for emby.

I'm on the latest Testflight version, but unfortunately I'm still having trouble connecting to a remote Emby server via https. The login seems to work fine, I see the MrMC device in Emby Dashboard. But I don't see any database syncing process, so I don't have the section 'movies' or 'shows' in MrMC main menu, either. I'm running Kodi on the same ATV where the Emby addon runs fine. Is this still expected behavior or do you need logs?

MrMC commented 6 years ago

post the debuglog to a pastebin site please.

Seger85 commented 6 years ago

Allow me to google translate :)

For me it works perfectly with manual HTTPS

I have observed two other things:

1 Emby integration of Movies children's Movies are not displayed separately, but summarized.

2 The widgets are no longer displayed, neither in series nor in movies (such as recently added etc).
