Yes, there is a problem to update nvidia drivers, because the modification we are doing to them aren't repercuted to updates...
So I think you should avoid updating nvidia driver, the only way to do this properly is to uninstall/reinstall bumblebee, which will then fetch the last drivers available.
Ok, as soon as I've solved two prioritary bugs, I will try to make a tool to update nvidia drivers.
I think that improving http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11014869 is a good idea.
If you are using the latest version of the git version or the ppa version of bumblebee, you can just run the bumblebee-configuration script after updating the driver.. then it should work...
ok thank you :)
maybe a first step to ensure that this doesn't happen is to remove the ppa after installing nvidia-current from it, so everyone has to do it by hand to get it updated... and therefore maybe using the script from the link above or a script that comes with bumblebee :)
if you don't have time i could also try to improving this script ...
You are welcome to contribute to the scripts...
I will probably use all of my energy on the ppa version, as I really think it's the way forward...
I'm still having the same problem on a 32 bit installation
@charig please follow the instructions at https://github.com/MrMEEE/bumblebee/issues/493#issuecomment-1662510
hi,
today there was a update to the nvidia driver from the x-swat ppa -> 275.xxx.xxx which breaks intel DRI e.g. unity will not get started anymore..
this also happens when installing xorg-edgers ppa or bumblebee ppa AFTER installing bumblebee, it wont happen BEFORE bumblebee is setup.
i guess it has something todo with the install.sh which moves files around to make it work.. but dunno.
any hints? i guess this will happen to everyone as of today using ubuntu and the x-swat ppa :)
