my initial problem is fixed. I don't know why ironhide-configure was not working. It's now working on a ASUS PL30JT optirun & disable gfx. The only problem left is shutdown/hibernate crashes. Ubuntu 11.10. Good job with ironhide. Thanks

Try starting ironhide-settings and change the "Always enable the nVidia card before disabling"...

It was enabled and enableing the card by ironhide-enable did not work either. I'll have a look at my log files. It was a common thing on 11.4 and 10.10 too. My Laptop won't suspend, goes max speed and freezes. I don't know if this is ironhide related. Thx

try setting it to disabled... and see if that changes anything....
