What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download the SMD tools scripts.
2. Place them in the scripts/addons directory as directed.
3. Go into User Preferences, click Addons, and scroll down to "Import/Export
SMD/DMX Tools"
4. Attempt to check the mark to the Addons entry's right.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The expected output is an ability to import Valve Source Engine files.
Unfortunately, I can't even enable the bloody addon! If I try to browse for the
addon manually through "Install Addon", though, it actually pops up an error
message: "Error: Source file is in Blender search path".

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Blender 2.63 on Windows 7

Please provide any additional information below.
I would provide some additional information, but honestly I'm baffled.
