mac address ipod touch 2g

i try to change the mac address on ipod touch 2g using mobileterminal   
and it will not change. several users on ipod touch forum confirm your 
software wont change the ipod touch 2g mac address here:

Mobileterminal is simply a terminal emulation application; it emulates a 
console so
that you can use console applications. It itself has nothing to do with network
settings, and does not have the capability to modify a MAC address.

The utility mentioned in that thread, ifconfig, is a console application that 
can be
run via mobileterminal, but is not a part of mobileterminal, nor is it 
developed or
supported by mobileterminal's developers.
