Is /dev/tty.usbmodemfd121 the port that you use with the Arduino IDE, and if it is, can you upload sketches to the Arduino?
If yes, do you have StandardFirmata loaded into your Arduino?

On Mac OS X, I can't get this working.
Any suggestions?
