I think it would be a good idea to facilitate bitmap / texture loading from
1-bit PNGs. They help save about 50% of storage space where monochrome
images are used (like for displaying text). 

Of course, I just mean *loading* 1-bit files, not the actual internal
format the textures are stored in (i.e. the plugin would do the conversion).
