What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Follow the install links (ie try to install) on my computer

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Did not install; instead I received the above error (I tried the automatic 
and manual install)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Windows XP

What hardware are you using:  graphics card type?  motherboard type?

Google issued PC laptop (ThinkPad T61); graphics adapter type is NVIDIA 
Quadro NVS 140M

Please provide any additional information below.

I couldn't find any info about interpreting error codes on the site
