Newsletter design elements

Right now, our newsletter functions similarly to an RSS feed of our recent news coverage: For most articles in the past week, it highlights the article header image, the headline, and summary, all linked over to the original article.

This method is pretty effective and visual, but we think the newsletter could do a better job highlighting the wide array of interesting information the site has to offer. We also would like to adapt some of the flexible modular design elements of A+ newsletters like Qz, while being realistic about our newsletter production goals.

Things we'd like to find fun and visual ways to highlight:

• [ ] Recently filed and completed requests
• [ ] Project pages, particularly those with an active crowdfund campaign that folks can contribute to. See the project page overview for example widgets on site.
• [ ] Recent user submissions to Assignment tasks, highlighting the value of sharing what you know or helping sort through documents.

• [ ] Fun facts, key numbers, quotes, links to other articles on similar subjects from around the web.

Hello @morisy and @mitchelljkotler, I’d like to help out with an issue and this one seems like a good candidate. Would y’all still like the newsletter enriched in these ways? And if so are there any tech pointers that might be helpful to get started?
