Feature request: Sound and vibration on notification #185

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

When using applications such as irssi in connectbot it is nice to be
notified when someone mentions your name or types a private message. When
connectbot is focused the phone can emit a beep and vibrate, but when the
application is in the background only a text notification is available.

I would like to have the beep and the vibration also when the application
is in the background so that I know when something happens if I put the
phone away.

Currently, the only way to get this notification is to put the phone away
with connectbot focused. Since the beep and the vibration is mostly needed
when the phone is locked, these non-visual notifications should be
available independent of whether connectbot is focused.

On closer examination, maybe the OS should be responsible for that. But it sure
doesn't work for me. But it is most likely not connectbot's fault.

Go to host list, press Menu, scroll down and enable 'Background notifications'

Background notifications does not seem to beep/vibrate, simply add a
notification to the system tray. This does not draw one's attention readily,
and requires an extra step to clear.
